GAIA, das Deutsch-Türkische Umweltprojekt, trägt seine Idee
auf die Dächer Istanbuls: Wir begrünen die Dächer der Stadt
und geben jedem Stadtteil seinen Park.
Istanbul ist eine gewaltige Agglomeration, die Innenstadt bietet wenig
Raum für Baumpflanzungen. Deshalb umgeht GAIA die Enge und weicht
auf die Dächer aus. Denn viele Häuser Istanbuls verfügen
über Dachterrassen oder Flachdächer. Einzelne Gebäude werden
in Absprache mit den Anwohnern ausgewählt und zu Miniparks umgewandelt.
Die Front wird mit ansprechend sanfter Pastellfarbe bestrichen, das Dach
mit Bäumen und anderen Pflanzen besetzt. Ausgewählt werden Häuser,
die an prominenten Verkehrsknotenpunkten liegen sowie Schulen. Jeder Bezirk
soll sein eigenes Profil erhalten, alle beteiligten Bezirke aufeinander
abgestimmt werden. Insgesamt wird diese Aktion, ohne viel Aufwand und
Kosten, das Stadtbild von Istanbul wunderbar verschönern und Besucher
aus aller Welt anziehen und verzaubern. Istanbul hat nun die einzigartige
Möglichkeit eine weltweite Vorreiterrolle im Bezug auf den Umweltschutz
zu übernehmen.

Türk-Alman çevre projesi GAIA, fikrini Istanbul’un çatilarina
tasiyor: Sehrin çatilarini yesillendiriyoruz ve her semte kendi
parkini veriyoruz.
Istanbul bir megakent oldugundan, sehrin iç kesimleri agaçlandirma
için fazla yer sunmamaktadir. GAIA bu darbogazi asarak, çatilari
ele almaktadir. Istanbul’daki bir çok ev çati teraslarina
veya düz çatilara sahiptir. Binalar, ev sakinleri ile birlikte
seçilecek ve mini parklar hâline getirilecektir. Ön
cepheleri pastel boyalarla uygun bir sekilde boyanacak ve çatilar
agaçlarla ve baska bitkilerle yesillendirilecektir. Seçilecek
olan binalar, bilinen yogun trafik noktalarinda bulunan evler ve okullar
olacaktir. Her semte kendi profili verilecek ve katilan tüm bölgeler
birbirleriyle uyumlu hâle getirilecektir. Fazla masraf gerektirmeyen
bu faaliyet, Istanbul’un sehir haritasini güzellestirmeye katkida
bulunacak ve dünyanin her yerinde ziyaretçileri çekecek
ve büyüleyecektir. Istanbul, bu sayede çevre konusunda
dünya çapinda öncü bir rol oynama firsatina sahip
olacaktir.

Turkish-German environmental protection project GAIA puts down roots onto
the roofs of Istanbul: The roofs of the city are going to be turned into
gardens and every neighbourhood gets its own park.
As a massive agglomeration, Istanbul, and particularly its city centre,
lacks places for tree plantings. Due to the impossibility to create space
in the streets, GAIA thinks higher up and uses the roofs: Many houses
in Istanbul are built with flat roofs or roof gardens but yet unplanted.
Hence, in consultation with the local residents, several buildings are
going to be changed into mini-parks. In addition, the front can be painted
with pleasant mellow pastel colour, while the roof will become the new
home for trees, flowers and other plants. Houses situated at busy traffic
hubs and also schools will be chosen. Every single district shall get
its own profile while all districts will fit together.
Altogether, this project will beautify Istanbul´s cityscape and
attract visitors from all over the world. Eventually, Istanbul can take
a leading role in environmental protection – without much effort
and costs.
